HOW CAN I KNOW FOR SURE THAT I AM GOING TO HEAVEN?
The Bible tells us how to get eternal life. The Bible tells us that we can know for certain that we are going to Heaven. The natural question is, "How?" How can a person come to the place where he knows for certain that he has eternal life?

REALIZE YOU HAVE SINNED
First, you must realize that you have sinned. The bible says "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). Some people may seem to be better than others, but we have all come short of God's standard; we have all sinned. The penalty for our sin is spiritual death and separation from God (Romans 6:23).

RECOGNIZE CHRIST PAID FOR SIN
Next, you need to recognize that Christ paid for your sins. The Bible says, "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son" (John 3:16). The Bible declares that "Christ died for our sins and that He rose again the third day"   (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). Jesus Christ took the penalty for our sins upon Himself. He died in our place as our substitute so we can be set free from the penalty of sin.

RELY ON CHRIST FOR SALVATION
Finally, you need to rely on Christ for salvation. You cannot get to Heaven by attending church or by doing good, or by being baptized, or by being raised in a Christian family. No amount of goodness will get you to Heaven. The Bible says, "For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God - not of works, lest any man should boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9). Faith means to "trust, rest in, or rely on". To be saved from the penalty of your sin you must rely on Christ and not on yourself to get you to Heaven.

THE CHOICE IS UP TO YOU
Have you relied upon Christ for salvation, or are you trying to get to Heaven by your own good works? If you have not yet come to the point in your life where you have trusted Christ to get you to Heaven, why not do it right now. Just tell God that you realize you are a sinner. Tell Him that you understand that Christ died in your place and paid for your sins. Then tell Him that right now you are trusting in Christ and not on anything you have done to get you to Heaven.
